why is Greenland called Greenland

It's pretty wild how often that place shakes. I've sailed through those waters plenty of times and honestly, it's just the nature of the beast because of where the country sits. Japan is basically stuck right on top of a massive collision zone where four different tectonic plates are constantly grinding against each other. It's like a giant puzzle piece that never quite fits, and all that pressure has to go somewhere, so it just ends up pushing through the crust.

When you're out at sea, you don't really feel the smaller tremors, but the constant activity is just a fact of life for everyone living there. It's pretty crazy how they've built everything to withstand that kind of stress, though. Most of the time it’s just small wobbles that people barely notice anymore, but when those plates finally slip after building up all that energy, you definitely know about it. It’s definitely not a place for the faint of heart, but they've gotten really good at living with it.
