"Like the term libertarian, it's become defined in the public imagination by its lunatic fringe. Given how nuts academic feminism is, that's perhaps understandable. Just as libertarianism is currently being brought back to respectability by moderates like Johnson and Weld (causing predictable outrage from the 'purists'), maybe some moderate feminists will also do the same thing. I doubt it, though. To the extent that feminism has a leadership, it's spread out among thousands of gender studies academics. It's not as though there is some easy way for moderates to seize leadership of the movement. Maybe people seeking to avoid confusion will simply need to say "I believe in political equality between the sexes" to indicate that they support the key principle of feminism but aren't comfortable with the name. "

"Some feminist s come off as straight up cunts. My wife's legit dream is to stay at home and raise our kids. Her choice and I support her in it. she gave up her career to do it and loves it but do you think that she gets any respect or at least tolerance for following her heart and doing what she loves? Not a fucking chance. Needless to say she cut ties with a few "friends" over it. I thought feminism was about women having the choice to be able to do what they want to do? Apparently that's bullshit or maybe her old "friends" are just cunts. "

Like surgery with a hacksaw and without anesthetic, it was an important thing in the past, but going about it now there are better philosophies.

"It's unnecessary in the western word and hurtful (doxing, the take down of accounts/videos, ect). In the western world the biggest issue is "manspreading" while in the middle east and other 3rd world countries girls are not aloud to drive or get an education. Feminism is not addressing these issues, I'm sure some are but they are not what's in mainstream media thus not representing what the public is viewing as "everyday feminism". I think it's just trendy to be a sjw. "
