my experience only just counts. I've visited Panmunjom in the DMZ for a day and stood inside the treaty hut and technically in NK by a few metres. It was in the late 90s during the famine in NK and tensions were high. It was a very odd day, I was quite jocular about the experience before I got there, the reality of the journey from Seoul to the DMZ was sobering and the reality of the DMZ was actually quite disturbing. I know the tour is designed to convey the seriousness of the situation but the US MP guide I had was very matter of fact about the place, and the constant observation from the NK soldiers as you went around the site, combined with the hyper readiness of the US MP and the SK troops was very unsettling. I was rather glad to leave to be honest. It was a lot of XP but not necessarily XP i'd want again

I've never been but I've seen enough documentaries to know exactly what to expect if I ever decide to go there. It's always the same for all visitors. Edit: in case anyone hasn't seen it, I recommend watching the Vice documentary on visiting NK. It's on YouTube.

Yep, 8 years ago to Pyongyang. We had two guides with us all the time, literally. We did see some of t he city, calm but beautiful. Lots of poverty but they only show us what they want us to see. Pyongyang is the rich part though, where the wealthy family's live.... I had a great time!
