I work at a heart catheter clinic. Don't know about the ablation part, but the catheter itself is not too bad. We do it through the groin but it can also be done through the arms. You get some anesthetics and after that won't feel too much (usually). After the procedure the entry point has to be closed up. There's a lot of pressure, cause it's the main artery. This can be done manually by pressing on it for about 15 minutes or with sandbags or some other mechanical devices. After that you will have to lie in bed for about 4 hours with a tourniquet. Instead a seal that closes the artery up from the inside can be used. Most patients say it wasn't too bad, but sometimes it can hurt, if the doctor finds a nerve or something is in the way. Feel free to ask anything. My job is to close up the entry points after the procedure.

An ablation, isn't that when Catholics have their sins forgiven?

It could be worse - Rebecca Black could be singing about it.

I've had a catheter twice. Look, it's not fun - probably on a scale of 1-10 for how uncomfortable it is, it's probably a 6 or 7. But fuck it, it's in and over with pretty quickly.

Ive had this done twice now. The ablation itself is no big deal. The pain afterward feels like you got kicked the balls. Just b/c its the same set of nerves. Ive had WPW and PVCs and still have daily attacks after 2 ablations.

I once put a catheter into a man's penis. He did not enjoy it at all.
