"Here is my opinion on names like what you are suggesting. You may think it's the coolest name ever, but your child is going to have to live with it for the rest of their life. You go to crazy and it will make him stand out and that's not always a good thing. Kids are cruel, cruel souls and will mercilessly fuck with other kids that could be considered "different". Going too out there on a name could cause social issues for your child as he grows up and they could end up resenting you. I only say this because I had to deal with it first hand going up and I hate my name. I have considered legally changing it, but I just go by my middle name instead. I only have to deal with my first name in a professional setting. Since you know know what it is like as well, do you really want to put your son through the same ordeal? "

"I don't know if it matters to you, but there has been some study done on the impact of unusual names and how they can affect various areas of one's life. http://sciencefocus.com/feature/psychology/names "Parents should give their children whatever name they want, but they need to recognise that names have consequences," says Figlio. "Is a name a guaranteed ladder to success? Of course not. But can a name make your life a little bit easier? For sure." "

Use one of them for a middle name. My kids middle names are Ultraman, Akira and LeFay Pendragon. Normal first names, save the kid some grief.

I don't mean to be rude, just brief and blunt. In my opinion, Silas is the only name you've listed so far that isn't a completely terrible choice. The other names might work for a pet, but never a child.

"I'm just going to say "Jayne" is a fucking badass name for a boy. Just make sure you lace his breastmilk with roids so he is abnormally built. "

Oh good lord. I felt nerdy for wanting to name my first son Linus. Keep in mind, your child is going to have to go through school with that name. Maybe you didn't have this experience, but schools are usually a place with intolerant meatheads and jerkwads that enjoy picking on kids with funny names.

If you give your kid any of those names... poor kid...

"The trick is to produce an uncommon but easily pronounced name. Your first thought for any given name should be to google and urbandictionary it. The most famous person with that name will provide an impression for other people to identify with, e.g. nephew with the name Nolan, first thought Nolan Ryan = "shows up for work every day for thirty years" impression right off. Lex = Lex Luthor, evil billionaire. Titus = Christopher Titus, comedian. Etc. Skip the obviously geeky references, ie the names specifically made up for scifi or fantasy such as Gallifrey. Skip the names mostly associated with geekdom even if they weren't made up for it (no one looks as a guy named Clark Kent without a desire to giggle, even if it's just to themselves.) "

My 'baby name' was Logan for a while. I absolutely love Logan's run (don't ask) but then Logan's started popping up everywhere, so now I can't have it. Zen is the best, but out of a horrifying selection. If your child is a tiny scrawny boy boy called 'Titus' god help him.
