"Cather In The Rye. "The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one." If you want to call a teenage young man on his bullshit, completely tear down the wallow of self-pity and "I'm a man" world view, read him this quote. My only regret is that I didn't discover the book until I was 18. About 5 years earlier could have saved me a lot of trouble. "

I loved Siddhartha, so I'm glad that's on your list. For me: Animal Farm & 1984 - George Orwell Fences - August Wilson To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee Ellen Foster - Kaye Gibbons There are more, but these are my favourites as far as I can remember.

Atlas Shrugged. But damn that book was long. Took me 3 months to finish because I'm a slow reader.

The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. It actually really makes you wonder about the different aspects of your life, what's valuable and such. I gave it a good read, it was actually pretty interesting even if you don't take it to heart.

Tao-te Ching by Lao Tzu. Simple wisdom in a digestible format that is incredibly relevant to everyday living.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance Phil Jackson read this one too actually. But for me, that I can think of right now, would have to be: Evolve your Brain - Joe Dispenze Steve Jobs - Walter Issacson These are ones I've read recently that I remember, but there are a couple of others that I read when I was younger I have them written down somewhere. I can add those too if anyone is interested.

Charles Bukowski. I can't choose one book though - the poetry collections, the novels, short stories. I love them all. His work has probably had a bigger impact on my than any other writer and his life-story alone is an inspiration for me.
