As others have said, Earth's rotational axis is tilted compared to its orbit around the sun. When the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, days are longer. Above the arctic circle, there are some days with daylight for all 24 hours.

Earth has a tilted northern axis towards the sun during certain months of the year. It can be long or constant daylight or long or constant night, depending on the months.
I went to Iceland last summer and it never got dark. I couldn't sleep one night so I just sat on the other side of the curtains and read a book from the daylight.
