Think of water as the ultimate playground for all the chemical reactions happening inside our cells. Without it, everything would just clump up and stop working. It acts as a solvent for pretty much everything, letting nutrients get where they need to go and helping flush out the waste products that would otherwise turn our bodies into a mess. Honestly, seeing how dehydration affects patients during my shifts, it's wild how quickly things go south when the water levels drop even a little bit.

Then you've got minerals, or electrolytes, which are basically the spark plugs for everything electrical in the body. Whether it's your heart beating or your nerves firing, you need things like sodium, potassium, and calcium to keep the charge flowing correctly across cell membranes. If you're low on those, you start feeling weak or getting cramps, and it’s usually the first thing I check when someone comes in feeling completely wiped out. They might seem simple, but we really couldn't function for more than a few minutes without them keeping everything balanced.
