What's a good way to quit smoking?

My guy found himself politely waiting for a chance to get a cigarette and frustrated at how slow the clock was ticking to get him out of there. And then he realized I was there too, in the same situation, not even slightly giving a fuck, and not frustrated for a craving. It dawned on him that every situation ever where he grabbed a cigarette to get through, or was desperate to, I had faced without it. I don't think he really noticed that before. Whether I did well in life, or crashed on the rocks, or busted my ass to achieve something or just chilled the fuck out in blissful relaxation, never once did I need to breathe burning leaves in my face to achieve that or get through it or enjoy it. It sounds stupid but that actually had to occur to him in his own time. I don't think he had a reason before that. But he wanted the freedom. How he did it, sharply cut back, some kind of patch thing for the first couple of days, then nothing by the end of the week.

Just stop. I stopped cold turkey almost 2 months ago and I'm doing great. I smoked for 5 years. Stopping cold turkey is the only way you're ever going to fully quit, IMO. Patches, gums, and vapes only assist in quitting.
Put the fire out
Every time you have the urge to smoke, you'll have to have something else in your mouth. Lollipops or candy work, but you'll be eating a lot of them in the beginning
I had a lot of success with the patches. It weens you off so that you don't get weepy or emotional and makes it much easier. I've been off nicotine for 5 years
I quit 8 years ago, all I did was kept setting a goal and once I passed it kept adding more time to it. I can make it til lunch, I can wait til I get home from work, but you just cant give into the craving. Sooner or later you stop watching the clock waiting for the goal and you wont even miss it. Its an addiction, many have tried and failed in the end its up to you to learn you dont need it. Even better change the I CAN make it's to I WILL....thats the reward.
Hire a big intimidating person to follow you around slapping them out of your mouth.
"I tried quitting for years, finally did it (haven't smoked a puff since last february). Cold turkey is definitely the way to go, but you need to take it seriously. I took two weeks off work and just locked myself up and played videogames and ate and stuff. Got rid of all of my cues. The secret is not to make exceptions for yourself. If you find some excuse "Just have one" a few hours in then you'll find an excuse to "just finish one last pack" when the withdrawal starts telling you what to do. You need to zero out. Good look, honestly you'll be surprised how quick the hump comes where it starts getting easier rather than harder, and you'll also be surprised how quickly the day comes when you genuinely don't want one. I can hang out drunk in smokers' sections and be offered them and not be interested. "
Just don't buy another pack again. Don't have it, can't have it
I temporarily switched to dip (the ground up tobacco you put in your mouth) for a year and then quit dip. It worked for me because the rituals of doing dip replaced the rituals of smoking, but I never really liked doing dip. So after a while, I gave up the dip gradually, and the nicotine withdrawal was pretty easy.
