Religious people , why is it common practice to refer to God as a ""him"" (not to be sexist or whatever), but wouldn't it make more sense that God is not of either gender?

The short answer tradition the long answer is the in Judaism the basis of most religions in this world drink with Christianity and Muslim they had to give some credit to the males as a Jewish they had to give some credit to the males as Jewish lineage matrilineally this is something that occurred up until World War II which is why you see the official records of the Nazis stating that if your mother or grandmother was Jewish and if you prove that you were the less than one-fourth of Jewish you are not considered Jewish by the Nazi regime there were exceptions to this of course for example allegedly Hitler's grandmother was Jewish in addition to that many of the older societies were matrilineal however there was a king of the god in several of these older societies you had Odin to the people of the North, jupiter to the Romans, Zeus to the Greeks, and Perun to the Slavs. Most of the cultures listed with the exception primarily matrilineal

You know you are using an inferior language, if you have gendered pronouns. Genderless pronouns language gang rise up!
It's not common practice. Guan-Yin is typically female, and Shakti is regarded as female. There are other religions in the world besides Christianity.
At my church (United Church of Canada) we say that God is not genderless, but genderfull! We are all made in the image of God, including those who do not identify in binary terms of gender.
"humans created god and did so in times where man had rule over women. it was also most likely men that came up with the idea of god personifying "him" after themselves. "
"In Islam, god has no gender, but is referred to as "He" because it's the more gender-neutral pronoun is Arabic. "
As a Lutheran,God is refered to as the father and he has a son Jesus and then there's the Holy Spirit,I would say that it doesn't have a gender it's just the Holy Spirit.
I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We believe that God is literally our father which is why we refer to as Him. We also believe that Jesus Christ is God's son who is our Savior so we also refer to as Him.
I don't do that I'm not that religious tho
