Hey,. I'm helping my brother get off heroine and I need some advice. Any advice.

It won't work. 1. He'll come off and be clean for 1-2 days than around the 2-3 day he will be sick/ but have energy, that's when it gets scary, That's when your stuff comes up stolen. He needs to go to rehab, if you are in america, you need to go to the hospital with him, and have him say he is suicidal and a heroin addict, in most cases they will put him in a rehab. The relapse rate is so high, there's a better chance he will relapse, than stay clean. If you guys have money you could try bringing him to a methadone clinic, You'll have to search in your area (last i heard they are about 80$ a week) methadone will kill most of the withdraw symptoms, and from what I've read/heard it takes a lot more of heroin to get high, while on methadone. edit: just so I make it clear, He's got to want it, and the relapse rate is really high, but with replacement therapy like suboxone or methadone the relapse rate goes down drastically.

Not sure if you have ever seen the reality TV show 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' but believe it or not, Dr. Drew Pinsky is a credible & board-certified internist and addiction medicine specialist. I watch the show because everything those addicts go through is real, and honestly - it's scary to see someone go through such turmoil during the withdrawal stages. I suggest you do some research on typical withdrawl stages/behaviour (because they do go through a pattern/stages of withdrawals that I recommend you be aware about). Also, based on the show - they do take their mobile phones away from them. I would recommend doing this. I know giving you advice based on a 'reality tv show' sounds absurd but it is a legitimate recovery centre, with certified doctors and real people with real and severe addictions. I suggest you do some research.

Take away everything from him. Lock him in the house and don't be afraid to be borderline mean when he starts demanding things. You should be aware that he might get very violent. There should be someone strong enough to restrain him there at all times. Maybe this can help

My brother was a heroine addict for about a year and he could not kick the habit until he was checked into an inpatient facility where he COULDNT do it anymore. I really recommend this route. Expensive, yes but he will die if he doesnt kick the habit.
