Oh man, this brings back memories. I remember driving around in my old beater back in the day, cranking up the radio, and being absolutely convinced that Jimi Hendrix was singing "excuse me while I kiss this guy" in Purple Haze. I honestly didn't realize it was "kiss the sky" until years later. I was so confident about it that I even argued with my friends, which is pretty embarrassing now that I think about it.
Another classic one for me is that Bon Jovi track, Livin' on a Prayer. For the longest time, I thought the line was "it doesn't make a difference if we're naked or not." I just assumed it was some edgy lyric about being broke and not caring about clothes. When I finally saw the actual lyrics—"it doesn't make a difference if we make it or not"—I felt like a complete idiot. My coworkers still give me a hard time about that one whenever it plays on the shop radio.
It's funny how our brains just fill in the blanks with whatever sounds remotely similar, especially if the song is moving fast. I think everyone has at least one of these that they sang wrong for half their life before someone finally corrected them. Does anyone else have one that they still accidentally sing the wrong way even after knowing the truth?

I sang that loud and proud for years until someone finally corrected me. My buddies still give me a hard time about that one whenever that song comes on the radio.
