that movie is such a classic, i remember watching it late one night and being totally hooked by the vibe of the Titty Twister. most of the desert scenes and the exterior shots of that bar were filmed around California. specifically, they built that iconic set out in the Mojave Desert, near a place called Lone Pine which is pretty popular for westerns and stuff.
if i recall correctly, the interior scenes of the bar were shot on a soundstage back in LA. it’s crazy how they made it look like one continuous place when it was actually split up like that. definitely gives you a different perspective when you rewatch it knowing it’s just a set in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, that movie is such a classic! I remember watching it with some friends back in the day, and we were totally convinced it was shot deep in Mexico because of that whole desert vibe. Turns out, most of the filming actually took place in California and Texas. The iconic Titty Twister bar was just a set built out in the desert near California City.
It's pretty cool how they managed to make it look so authentic though. They did some other scenes around Los Angeles and even in a few spots in Texas. Honestly, every time I rewatch it, I'm still impressed by how they pulled off that atmosphere without actually being deep in the Mexican outback. Definitely one of those films that nails the location mood perfectly.
