what is a cold desert and give an example

The Negev desert is basically down in the southern part of Israel. It covers a huge chunk of the country, actually more than half of the land area if I remember correctly. I've sailed past those coasts a bunch of times over the years, and it's pretty distinct when you look at it from the sea, just a massive, dry expanse that stretches all the way down to Eilat at the very tip.

It's shaped like a triangle, pointing south toward the Gulf of Aqaba. It's a really rugged place, not just flat sand dunes like you see in the movies, but full of craters and mountains. Definitely not the kind of place you'd want to get stuck in without plenty of water, that's for sure. If you ever find yourself heading toward the Red Sea, you'll be passing right through it.
