where is the Taklamakan Desert located
That massive stretch of sand pretty much covers most of the Arabian Peninsula. If you look at a map, it basically fills up almost all of Saudi Arabia, extending over into parts of Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Oman, and Yemen. I've flown over that region plenty of times and honestly, it’s just an endless sea of dunes from up there. It’s one of the largest desert areas in the world and the landscape is pretty wild once you get into the deep interior.
It's definitely not just one flat patch of sand either. Depending on where you are, you'll see everything from rocky plateaus to those huge, shifting red dunes in the Rub' al Khali, which is probably the most famous part. It’s a pretty intense place to be, especially when the heat really kicks in. Definitely a unique sight if you ever get the chance to see it, even if just from a distance.
