where is the Kalahari Desert located

The Gobi Desert is basically a huge stretch covering parts of northern China and southern Mongolia. I've sailed through plenty of oceans, but seeing those massive, dry landscapes from a distance during some of my travels was pretty intense. It's not just a flat pile of sand like people usually think; it's mostly rock and plateaus, and the weather there can get surprisingly cold depending on the season.

Most of the area sits on a high plateau, so it's quite elevated compared to the sea level stuff I'm used to dealing with. It's a pretty harsh place to be if you aren't prepared for the temperature swings. If you ever look it up on a map, you'll see it tucked right between the mountain ranges of the Altai and the grasslands of Mongolia, kind of acting like a giant barrier in the middle of the continent.
