The largest desert in Australia is the Great Victoria Desert. I've flown over that part of the world quite a few times, and honestly, from up above, it just seems to stretch on forever. It's a massive, dry stretch of land that takes up a huge chunk of Western and South Australia.
It's pretty intense how much space it covers compared to the other deserts there. People often get it mixed up with the Great Sandy Desert, but the Great Victoria is definitely the biggest one you'll find on the map. Definitely not a place you'd want to get lost in without a solid plan.

The largest desert in Australia is the Great Victoria Desert. I've flown over that part of the country plenty of times during my trips, and honestly, the scale of it is just mind-blowing from up there. It stretches across a massive area between Western Australia and South Australia, and it really looks like an endless sea of red sand and scrub when you're looking down from the cockpit.
It's definitely not the kind of place you'd want to get lost in, that's for sure. Even though it's technically a desert, the landscape changes quite a bit depending on where you are. Some parts are just flat plains, while other areas have these crazy sand dunes that go on forever. It's one of those spots that really makes you realize how huge and rugged the outback actually is.
