where is the island of Iceland located

Iceland is basically sitting right up there in the North Atlantic Ocean. If you're looking at a map, it's pretty much smack in the middle between North America and Europe, just south of the Arctic Circle. I've sailed through those waters a few times, and let me tell you, it's not exactly a tropical vacation spot, but the scenery is honestly unlike anything else I've ever seen on my travels.

Most people get surprised by how isolated it feels when you're out at sea nearby. It's technically part of Europe geographically, sitting on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where the tectonic plates are pulling apart. Whenever we pass by that region, the weather is usually pretty wild, which is pretty standard for that part of the world. It’s definitely a unique spot on the globe if you ever get the chance to visit.
