where is the island of Tasmania located

Tasmania is basically sitting just south of the australian mainland. If you ever find yourself sailing down that way, you'll cross the bass strait to reach it. It’s a pretty distinct spot, sort of hanging off the bottom of the continent, and the waters around there can get quite lively depending on the weather patterns.

I've passed by that region a few times over the years and it's always striking to see it on the charts. It’s pretty far down, almost looking like it’s trying to break away toward the southern ocean. Definitely a cool place if you like rugged coastlines and some decent winds.
