where is the island of Corsica located

Corsica is basically right there in the Mediterranean Sea. If you are sailing from the French mainland, it is tucked away to the southeast, sitting just north of the island of Sardinia. I have passed by those waters plenty of times; it is a pretty distinct spot once you spot the mountain peaks rising up from the blue.
It is actually a French territory, but it feels like its own world out there. If you ever find yourself looking at a nautical chart of the western Mediterranean, you really cannot miss it. It is perfectly positioned between the coast of Italy and the southern part of France, making it a regular waypoint for anyone cruising through that part of the big blue.
