what sea is located west of India

The sea you're looking for is the Arabian Sea. I've sailed through those waters more times than I can count, and it's a pretty distinct region once you get out past the coast.

It's basically the northwestern part of the Indian Ocean, tucked right between the Indian subcontinent and the Arabian Peninsula. If you're ever looking at a map or navigating through there, you really can't miss it. It's a massive stretch of water, and the currents around that area can get quite interesting depending on the season.
