The capital of Syria is Damascus. It's actually one of the oldest cities in the world that's still inhabited, which is pretty wild when you think about how much history is packed into those streets.
I've flown over that part of the world a few times, and from up there, you can really tell how ancient the layout is compared to modern cities. It's definitely a place with a lot of character and a super long story to tell if you ever get the chance to look into it deeper.

I've flown over that region a few times during my travels and it's always struck me how significant that whole area is. It's a place with a really deep past, though it's definitely seen its share of tough times over the last decade or so. Always interesting to see these spots on the map in person whenever the routes take me nearby.
