The capital of the maldives is male. I've actually dropped anchor nearby a few times over the years and it's quite a unique place, really crowded compared to the rest of those tiny islands. It’s basically a concrete jungle sitting right in the middle of the ocean, which is a wild contrast to the luxury resorts you usually see in pictures.
You can walk around the whole city in no time because it's super small. It's not exactly the kind of tropical paradise vibe you'd expect from the maldives, but it's definitely the heartbeat of the country. Just make sure you check the weather before heading out there, the humidity can be pretty intense if you aren't used to it.

The capital of Indonesia is Jakarta. I've been there a few times during my travels and it's honestly one of the most hectic, bustling places I've ever visited. The traffic is absolutely wild, though there's a certain energy to the place that you just don't find anywhere else.
I know there's been a lot of talk lately about the government moving the capital to a new city called Nusantara, but for all practical purposes and when you're looking at most maps, Jakarta is still the spot. It’s a massive hub and definitely an experience if you ever get the chance to visit it yourself.
