how many active volcanoes are in the Ring of Fire
The Galapagos Archipelago is chilling out in the Pacific Ocean, roughly a thousand kilometers off the coast of Ecuador. I’ve sailed through those waters a few times and let me tell you, it really feels like another planet once you get close. It sits right near the equator, so the weather is pretty unique compared to other spots in the ocean.
Those islands are basically volcanic peaks popping up from the sea floor. You won't find many places with that much wild life just hanging around without a care in the world. It’s definitely one of those spots that stays etched in your memory, especially if you spend a lot of time out on the blue water.
The Galapagos Archipelago is sitting right out in the Pacific Ocean, about a thousand kilometers off the coast of Ecuador. I've sailed through those waters a few times and let me tell you, it's pretty special out there. It's basically a cluster of volcanic islands that straddle the equator, so you really feel like you're in the middle of nowhere when you're navigating those currents.
Most people think it's just a tourist spot, but the currents around those islands can be really tricky to handle if you aren't paying attention. It's located right where the cold Humboldt Current meets the warmer tropical waters, which is exactly why the wildlife there is so wild and different from anywhere else on the map. Definitely one of those places that sticks with you long after you've pulled anchor.
