who discovered the Galapagos Islands
Think of the ocean surface as a giant heat engine. When I'm out at sea, you can really feel that intense humidity and warmth in the air when you're crossing tropical waters. That heat is basically fuel for a hurricane. The warm water evaporates super fast, and as that warm, moist air rises, it creates low pressure near the surface. It’s like a massive chimney effect where the atmosphere is just pulling more and more air in to fill the void.
As all that warm, moist air climbs higher, it starts to cool down and condense into big thunderstorm clouds. The crazy part is that when water vapor turns back into liquid rain, it releases a ton of latent heat. This heat makes the air even more buoyant, keeping the cycle going and making it spin faster because of the earth's rotation. If the water isn't warm enough, there just isn't enough energy to keep that engine running, so the whole thing kind of fizzles out before it can get dangerous.
