The first people to hit the bottom of the Mariana Trench were Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh. They pulled this off back in 1960 using the bathyscaphe Trieste. It’s pretty wild when you think about the pressure down there, definitely not a casual dive that anyone could just jump into.
I’ve spent a lot of time out on the water, and honestly, the sheer depth of that place is just mind-blowing. Most folks don't realize how insane it is to dive nearly 11,000 meters deep. Those two guys were absolute pioneers, going where nobody else dared to go at the time. It really changed how we look at the deepest parts of our oceans.

I’ve spent my fair share of time out on the water, but thinking about being trapped in a metal sphere that far down gives me the chills.
Most people forget about that mission because it happened so long ago, but it really paved the way for all the underwater exploration we see these days. It’s wild to think they just went for it with the tech they had back then. Definitely one of the coolest feats in history, even if it doesn't get brought up as much as the moon landing.
