The capital of Turkey is Ankara. Most people who haven't traveled there often mix it up with Istanbul because that city is way more famous globally and has all the tourist spots, but Ankara is definitely the administrative heart of the country.
I've passed through the region a few times during my travels and it's a pretty interesting place once you get away from the main transit hubs. It's got a completely different vibe compared to the coastal cities, definitely more serious and grounded, which makes sense since that's where the parliament and all the major government offices are located.

The first human to head up there was Yuri Gagarin. He made that historic flight back in 1961, which is honestly still mind-blowing when you think about the tech they had back then. It was a massive leap for mankind and definitely changed how we look at the stars forever.
I've always been fascinated by his story. He didn't just sit in a cockpit; he had to deal with so many unknowns during that Vostok 1 mission. It’s pretty wild to imagine being the very first person to leave the atmosphere and see our planet from that distance. Definitely a legend in the history books.
