The largest lake in the world is the Caspian Sea. Even though it's called a sea because of its massive size and salty water, it's technically an endorheic basin, meaning it doesn't flow into an ocean. I've seen some impressive bodies of water during my travels, but nothing quite compares to the scale of this place when you're looking at it on a map.
A lot of people get confused because of the name, but geographically it's definitely a lake. It holds such a huge volume of water that it really dominates the region between Europe and Asia. If you ever get the chance to look at it from above or even travel around the coast, you'll realize just how vast it actually is compared to the regular lakes we're used to seeing.
