If North Korea decided to actually attack the United States, what would happen?

"Simply put, South Korean forces and US forces would easily win the conflict. The main reason that this madness persists without action is quite simple: Seoul's close proximity to North Korea. Whilst North Korea's claims that it could, "flatten Seoul" are grossly exaggerated, (the recurring theme of a way outdated North Korea rears its head again with the whole notion of flattening a city, which is an outdated military tactic) a major metropolitan capital would still take extensive damage after an artillery barrage. The South Korean military is extremely well trained. It should be noted that during the Vietnam war, South Korea was only behind the US in terms of troops sent over and that South Korea donates a higher percentage of its GDP to the UN than any other country on Earth. North Korea would never attack the U.S. or anybody else. The ruling family there stays in power by taking the stance of always being ready to engage in war, and making the people feel as if the world is out to get them. They will posture, make threats, test missiles, but in the end it is in their best interest to do nothing. That way they will stay in power indefinitely

The term 'decimate' was originally a practice where Roman soldiers would line up a group of mutineers, captured soldiers or other another group of people and kill every tenth man. NK would be decimated. And if that didn't work. It would be decimated again.

Everyone keeps talking about how NK would get nuked. Why the hell would we microwave them? Where would we get a microwave big enough? Wouldn't microwaved burritos taste better?

A good portion of my hometown's young men and women would probably disappear over night. And that's just the civilian population. There's a lot of Korean Americans willing to die to preserve their culture. A NK strike on SK will release a lot of angry American-grown Koreans. I'm sure the Japanese will want a piece of the action now that their constitution has been amended to let them participate in war.

China would crush them..... South Korea would probably get shot at.... so South Korea would fuck'em up..... The US would stealth bomb the ever loving shit out of them.... Kim Jong might as well be the name of a shitty Asian dish afterwards.
