Can you poorly explain what you do for a living?

I press these buttons to change some lights in front of me. It's really hard to get the lights to go the way I want. If I do it well, I will try to tell everyone how I did it. Then others tell me didn't do it well enough, and that I should do it again and change everything, without making an effort to even understand what I really did. Sometimes, if I do it good enough, I get to tell everyone how I did it. The benefit of this is pretty unclear, but it's fun.
