I'm an American adopted into Syrian / Lebanese / Irish / French family who is learning Japanese and loves Indian food. The lack of knowledge of anything to deal with my ancestors has made me really interested in history and learning about other cultures. People who aren't adopted really don't understand what they take for granted. You could go on a database and find out your great-great grandfather was involved in some famous battle or your great-great-great-great-grandmother was a noble. Not having any ancestry essentially means that I have to reset everything all over again and make sure to pass on knowledge of my family history to my children starting from me. Becuase of all my multicultural experiences and my tabula rasa in regards to ancestral traits, I seem to pick up a myriad of nuances from all my experiences with other cultures picking and choosing what seems to fit what I am rather than what I feel I should be. Essentially, I see myself as a culture of one.

""This is something, culture is not your friend. Culture is for other people's convenience and the convenience of various institutions, churches, companies, tax collection schemes, what have you. It is not your friend. It insults you. It disempowers you. It uses and abuses you. None of us are well treated by culture. Yet we glorify the creative potential of the individual, the rights of the individual. We understand the felt-presence of experience is what is most important. But the culture is a perversion. It fetishizes objects, creates consumer mania, it preaches endless forms of false happiness, endless forms of false understanding in the form of squirrelly religions and silly cults. It invites people to diminish themselves and dehumanize themselves by behaving like machines - meme processors of memes passed down from Madison Avenue and Hollywood..." - Terence McKenna "

I'm Canadian through and through. I didn't acknowledge it until recently when I realized I was eating back bacon during a hockey game while sitting on my mooseskin rug with my pet Beaver, eh.

I feel similar - I fit several stereotypes, but not all the way. I'm American, but...there isn't really a universal American stereotype. There's the obese consumerist DERP DERP DERP one that hipsters and uppity/joking Europeans are fond of, but that's a joke. There's the whole pioneering capitalist thing, but that's kind of fading. I'm Christian, but...I use logic and reason in all matters of faith and prefer to keep a genuine, but less flamboyant relationship with my deity. I like to imitate Christ in all ways, doing my best to make others' lives better, and answering for why I act the way I do when I'm asked, but not being all holier-than-thou about it. I'm a nerd, but...I'm not a gamer, unless a year of RuneScape when I was 11 counts. I'm also hugely social, and like to get out, and have friends and stuff. I'm a girl, but...I'm not into a lot of stereotypically 'girlish' things like makeup, clothes, fingernails, screaming...

Ethnically, I am half Peruvian and half Jewish (Askenazi (Eastern European origin)). I identify strongly with both. I love Peruvian food, have been to Peru several times and have strong family roots there. My Spanish is decent. In terms of looks, if you saw me you would guess East European Jewish rather than Peruvian (I have fair skin and dark curly hair). Also, the Peruvian side of my family is much larger and more festive than my Jewish side, so I have just been exposed to the Peruvian culture more. I'd say it is a healthy mix, but I am biased.

Anglo-African. This article is mostly made up of hopeless generalisations and stereotypes, so take it with a pinch of salt (or Afternoon Tea, as it were.)
