OG Star Wars fans, what was your opinion of the newest trilogy?

"Disney clearly thinks the "heart" of Star Wars is the effects (even GL fell into that a bit with the prequels) and they didn't develop characters worth investing in. Luke was a wistful, whiny orphan with a real sense of family - once he found it. Leia was a mouthy leader from the get-go, and the only one in the SWU with a functioning brain. Han was a petulant and charming smuggler-cum-war hero. Vader was everything a movie villain is supposed to be. The Rebellion was a clear message: save the galaxy and protect lives. The Empire was a clear message: end lives or control lives. Rey was a determined orphan. Determined to do what, no idea, but it makes her face intense. Finn was a rogue stormtrooper-cum-present during the war, but totally in with the "good guys." Poe was smarmy and also there. The Resistance had a clear message: survive the First Order. The First Order had a clear message: End the resistance. "

Its crap. They really should have just updated the OG Thrawn books as a film series

it's meh at best. the first 3 will always be outstanding but they could've done so much more with the characters for the new trilogy.

Better than the prequels. Arguably better than ROTJ. Not much else to say about them, really.

The happened. but the problem was that people were expecting to feel the magic that that felt from the original trilogy.

It feels like it's just a remake of the original trilogy. It didn't do anything new or original and it ended in exactly the same place that episode 6 did just with different characters.

Born in the 90's, so I grew up with the prequels and also watching the OT on VHS (so I will always be biased for those two trilogies, I suppose). I love Star Wars, and in the grand scheme of things I'm happy that the new trilogy was made. Is it perfect? No. Nothing is in life. But yes, there were some major problems in there. But yet, there are also things about it that I truly liked. But the heart and soul seemed to have gone by The Last Jedi (I really enjoyed The Force Awakens and still actually like it better than Attack of the Clones) and they never really got it back, but I didn't dislike any of the movies.

I liked it okay. I'm one of the few who loved The Last Jedi. I'm not entirely sold on Rise of Skywalker though.
