I’ve seen a few people hit rock bottom pretty fast, but the one that sticks with me the most involved a guy I knew back in my late twenties. He suddenly decided to quit his stable job on a whim to dump every single penny of his savings into some sketchy online gambling scheme. Within two months, he had blown through his entire life savings and ended up borrowing from people he definitely shouldn't have been involved with. It was terrifying how quickly his whole world just crumbled right in front of us.
Another thing that always gets me is how fast someone can ruin their reputation and family life over a single impulsive decision, like an affair or a sudden addiction. I’ve seen neighbors who seemed to have the perfect life lose their house, custody of their kids, and all their friends in less than a year because they just stopped caring about the consequences. It’s like they flick a switch and walk away from everything they spent years building, thinking they'll find something better, but they usually just end up losing it all.
