What historical event did you witness?

I still remember the night back in 1999 when that massive earthquake hit. I was just a kid, but the way the whole building swayed is something that never leaves your mind. We ran out into the street in our pajamas, and the silence afterwards was honestly more terrifying than the shaking itself. It changed how I look at buildings and safety even now, years later.

Then there was the solar eclipse back in 2006. It wasn't exactly a historical war or a political shift, but seeing the sky go dark in the middle of the day felt like something straight out of a movie. Everyone in the neighborhood came out with those makeshift glasses, just standing there staring up. It felt like the whole world hit the pause button for a few minutes.

I think these kinds of things stick with you more than whatever you read in the papers. It’s funny how life goes on, but you hold onto those specific moments where everything felt different for a second. Makes you realize how fragile things are, whether it's the ground beneath your feet or just the rhythm of a normal day.
