I live in Canada and I hate the fact that health care is free. Is it benefiting families dealing with serious diseases and injuries? Yes, and I'm not mad about that. I'm a relatively healthy person so I feel like this is unfair of me to say but I'm saying it anyways. Doctors in Canada don't give a shit about your health. They're trying to spend as little money on prescriptions and proper health care as possible and it's effected me so many times. I've had doctors barely look at me and prescribe me something cheap that doesn't even help my problem because they're trying to do it as quickly as possible since (for the most part) doctors in walk in clinics get payed per client. I've had meds that have caused full body rashes and depression and I've been ignored in a waiting room while being unable to breathe all because some doctor didn't care about anything but a paycheck.

Have you realized that universal health care will raise your taxes? You need some money to pay bills, buy food, feed children, pay insurances, and etc. That will make your financial life harder.

There's a lot that the government doesn't do right we're not about to trust them with something as vital as our healthcare.

Don't really trust the government as well as I hear doctors make less with universal healthcare and I think they deserve what they're paid after all that school debt. Also longer wait times for ER and specialist care. That said I'm not super against it I just feel like I haven't seen the right argument or plan.

Cause increased taxes aren't worth it. Our system doesn't work as it, and this one is worse. And I am staunchly anti-socialist

This isn't me, but I understand the mindset: Any change is hard. If you are relatively satisfied with your healthcare situation then it's hard to make me want to change. The government services here are inconsistent. Some are run well, others not. There's no reason to just assume it will be okay. Look at the Obamacare rollout to see how even a relatively efficient and effective administration can fuck it up. Americans have some very unhealthy lifestyles. Obesity, alcoholism, smoking, etc. Why would a healthy person want to be part of a system that could potentially just subsidize these behaviors? A lot of Americans distrust new government programs because government only tends towards increasing in size over time. Each new entitlement should be considered very carefully, because it might never go away.
