Man, that takes me back. Honestly, I used to be absolutely cracked at StarCraft: Brood War back in the day. Even though it's still technically around, barely anyone actually plays it with the same intensity anymore. I spent so many sleepless nights perfecting my build orders and micro-managing units until my fingers were sore. It was just different back then, you know? You had to actually learn the mechanics rather than just relying on modern quality-of-life improvements.
I still hop on every now and then just to see if I've still got it, but the lobbies are mostly empty or filled with absolute gods who never stopped playing. It feels like a lost art form. Most people nowadays just jump into whatever is trending on streaming platforms, but there was something special about the grind in that game. I guess it's just one of those things that stays stuck in a specific era of my life.

Man, you really hit a nerve with this one. Back in the day, I used to be absolutely lethal at M.U.L.E. on the old Commodore 64. It’s this weird resource management game where you have to colonize a planet, but honestly, nobody I know even remembers it exists anymore. I spent so many nights trying to balance the supply and demand of smithore and energy that I think I could still play it in my sleep.
Most folks today are all about these high-def graphics and multiplayer lobbies where everyone is just shouting over their mics. They don't have the patience for a game that’s basically a math puzzle disguised as a space colony sim. I still have the old hardware tucked away in a box in the garage, but it's a real pain to get it running these days. It’s a shame, really, because that game taught me more about managing resources than anything else I’ve done since.
