When tying a double knot, do you use the loops and ends or just the loops?

To be honest, I've always gone with the loops myself. When you're out on the job all day, you really don't want your laces coming undone while you're moving around, and looping the loops together just seems to hold way tighter than messing with the ends. It's just a habit I picked up years ago because it keeps things secure without the ends flopping around and getting caught on stuff.

I know some folks swear by using the ends to finish off the knot, but that usually leaves you with those long, annoying strings that end up untying themselves anyway. If you just pull the two loops through each other like you're tying a regular knot, it stays put until you're actually ready to take your boots off. It's just quicker and less of a headache.
