(Insurance Underwriter here) Health Insurance is expensive for even the Insurance companies to provide. It's why dozens and dozens of Ins companies have dropped their health insurance plans from the market in the last 2 decades and there are fewer and fewer providers. It actiually is very slim margins of profit. They can in fact have several quarters of losses before a couple good quarters pull the books back to breaking even or even making a profit. If they pay for one guy who has a heart attack, angioplasty, 3x stents placed, 4 days overnight, 2 months recovery therapy and medication... They'll need a good 500+ heathy clients paying premiums with no claims to even begin to cover the expenses of that one guy. As for C-Level VP's salarys and bonus structures... yea. That's pure BS. Nearly impossible to defend that other than capitalistic free market systems work in very odd ways and are not perfect.

Obamacare is actually worse for patients? No way. It isn't possible. Obama and the Democratic party would never make a mistake. They're perfect. Duh.

"The medical "industry" is a scam all the way around. You have people that pay nothing at all into the system who need medical assistance. Doctors assist them, get nothing for it. Doctor needs to make a living, so doctor raises your fee. Doctor also does unnecessary tests/procedures on you, and then bills your insurance with a sky-high bill. Insurance company probably denies part of it, makes you pay for it. But, they pay out a decent chunk of it. Insurance companies and doctor's offices are usually for-profit companies. Those people on the board at these places want more money and higher margins. You, being a person who actually pays into the sytem, gets bent over...repeatedly. Congratulations, you're part of the problem and a victim at the same time. Welcome to the club, dude. "

Count yourself lucky at only 23%. Mine went from $300 to $450 in 13 months. I just got the same notice you did, and it's now going to be $550. That's almost a 100% increase in less than 2 years. Fuck Aetna.

I'm sure it felt good to write the letter, but is there any real point to this? Do you think anyone at Aetna even read the whole thing? You would make an actual statement by leaving Aetna for another provider.
