What used to be a science fiction but now a real thing?

Isaac Asimov used to include in some of his stories, a machine that contained data about everything. People had a dedicated workstation that was linked to the machine and you could look up anything about anything. It was essentially the internet except it was one machine and I think everyone was hard-linked to it but the concept was the same thing. If you want to look something up, just type it into your workstation at home and have the answer within a few seconds. He also wrote a story about a new invention that compiled the data in your computer and printed it out on pieces of paper and bound it between two pieces of cardboard. It included a listing at the beginning that showed where in the pages certain information could be found. You could carry this item around with you and look stuff up whenever you wanted and it didn't use electricity. It was pretty cool once you realized he was describing moving from a digital medium back into book form.
