What are some great novel series like Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter etc which we might have missed because it haven't been made into a movie or a TV show ?

If you're looking for that epic scale without the mainstream movie hype, you absolutely have to check out the Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. It’s honestly way more complex and dense than Game of Thrones. It’s got this insane magic system and a scope that spans continents and thousands of years. It’s definitely a bit of a challenge to get into at first because it just drops you right into the middle of the action, but it’s so rewarding once you start piecing the lore together.
Another series that I always tell people to pick up is The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb. Specifically, start with the Assassin's Apprentice. Hobb is just a master at character development. You get so attached to the protagonist, Fitz, it actually hurts. It’s not as combat-heavy as some other series, but the emotional stakes are so much higher than anything I've seen in the big screen adaptations lately. It’s a bit of a slow burn, but the world-building is just incredible.
If you want something that feels a bit more like a hidden gem, look into The Black Company by Glen Cook. It’s gritty and realistic in a way that feels really grounded, almost like you're reading a soldier's war diary. It heavily influenced a lot of the modern dark fantasy writers we love today, but it never really got that big Hollywood treatment. It’s definitely worth a read if you want something that feels raw and authentic without all the typical fantasy tropes getting in the way.

Finding hidden gems that haven't hit the screen yet is honestly one of my favorite things to do when I'm not busy with research. It’s got this super cool magic system based on reality-bending code, which feels really fresh compared to the typical swords and sorcery tropes. It hasn't been adapted yet, but honestly, I think it's only a matter of time before someone picks it up. It’s smart, fast-paced, and really makes you think about how systems of power work.
Lastly, if you're into something a bit darker and more philosophical, check out The Second Apocalypse series by R. Scott Bakker. It’s definitely heavy and not exactly light beach reading, but the scope is absolutely massive. It covers themes that usually keep me up at night thinking about human nature and civilization. It's a bit of a commitment, but totally worth it if you want an immersive experience that doesn't hold your hand.
