"Neither one is wrong. This just comes down to perspective. Person A thinks agreeing to do the laundry means simply taking person B's clothes and putting them in the wash properly. Person B thinks that if you agree to do the laundry, that implies you agree to check off all the boxes that come with doing the laundry like, checking pockets, making sure hand-wash items are not accidentally placed in there, etc. If this is an argument, both of you should sit down and explain the way you see things to clear up the misunderstanding. This doesn't necessarily mean that one of you is stupid, gross, lazy, entitled, asshole irresponsible, inconsiderate, etc. Agree on what it means to "do the laundry" "

Person B. Person A may check the pockets but anything found is the fee B is paying for being lazy and not doing their own laundry. Little kids excluded.

Person B. I don't check pockets. Washer gets started BIZ, borax, and detergent go in whole hamper gets lifted up and dumped in. If there's something important in there, TFB: should've done your own damn laundry. Any money is collected either from the bottom of the be washer or the lint trap of the dryer afterwards.

Depends on the age and relationship of A and B. If both are capable of doing their own laundry they should do so. If person A insists they do all laundry it's their job it empty pockets, especially if they are just washing anything on the floor and not just what's in the laundry basket. If person B refuses to do their own laundry they should empty the pockets.

If I'm person A, I expect B to check their pockets, but will do so myself before putting anything in the wash.
