Beauticians: who should have been the AP NFL Most Valuable Player of 1975 in place of Fran Tarkenton?

Look, I know Tarkenton was the big name that year, but if we're being real about the 1975 season, O.J. Simpson had a absolutely insane year. The guy was putting up stats that you just don't see anymore. He racked up over 1,800 yards from scrimmage and scored 23 total touchdowns. When you watch the old game tape, it's pretty clear he was the engine of that entire offense. It's tough to argue against a guy who was literally carrying his team on his back every single sunday.

I’ve always thought Fran got a bit of the "popular vote" because of the Vikings' record, but if you look at individual impact, OJ was just on another level. People get caught up in the win-loss column too much when deciding these awards. In my opinion, if you're the most valuable player, you should be the guy that defenses are terrified of every single play, and that was definitely him back then.
