Generation Z, what are things Millenials do that are, unbeknownst to them, going out of style?

honestly, it’s kinda funny watching the trends shift. i’ve noticed a lot of my peers are still holding onto the "girlboss" aesthetic or those overly curated instagram feeds that feel so 2015. it’s all about being super polished and productive, but lately, that just feels a bit exhausting and fake. we used to think that constant grind was the only way to prove yourself, but seeing how younger folks just value chilling and being authentic makes me realize how dated that whole mindset actually is.

another thing is the obsession with skinny jeans and those specific side parts we all swore by. i see people at the pharmacy or out at cafes still rocking them, and i catch myself doing it too sometimes before i realize it’s just not the vibe anymore. even the way we use emojis like the laughing-crying one is apparently a total giveaway. it’s weird how quickly something we thought was "cool" just becomes a marker that you’re getting older, but that's just how cycles go, i guess.

Honestly, watching the trends rotate from my chair gives me a front-row seat to this. One thing I notice is how obsessed some folks in their 30s still are with those overly groomed, ultra-defined beards and hair parts that look like they were cut with a ruler. It’s all about that "effortless" look now. If you’re spending twenty minutes perfectly lining up your edges every single morning, you’re definitely dating yourself. The younger crowd is all about texture and flow now, moving away from that rigid, manufactured look we all thought was peak style a few years back.

Also, the whole "hustle culture" vibe is dying a fast death. I hear guys sitting in my chair talking about their side-hustles and 24/7 grind like it's a badge of honor, but the younger generation just rolls their eyes at that. They prioritize their time and peace way more than we ever did at their age. It’s kinda refreshing, honestly. Watching people realize that killing yourself for a paycheck isn't the ultimate flex is probably the biggest shift I've seen in the shop lately.

Then there’s the social media thing. People my age still feel the need to document every single meal or "aesthetic" moment like it's a curated gallery. The younger ones? They couldn't care less about the feed. Everything is more raw, more real, and usually gone in twenty-four hours. Trying to make your life look like a perfect magazine spread is officially "cringe" as they say. Sometimes I look at my own photos from a couple years ago and think, yeah, that’s gotta go.
