If you've used one of those space saver bags that suck out the air, how did your clothes come out after?

Flat. Wrinkled where they had been folded. But it saves an amazing about of space, so definitely worth doing if space is tight. If you're traveling by plane, remember that the more compact the clothing, the more you can fit, and thus the more it will weigh. It's very easy to go over the weight limit and the extra charge can be pricey. So weigh the suitcase before you go to the airport.

I've used those vacuum bags for years now to store my winter sweaters and spare towels, and honestly, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. The space saving part is magic, especially when you're short on closet room, but the clothes definitely come out looking pretty crushed. Everything ends up with these deep, stubborn wrinkles that take forever to steam out, which can be a real pain if you're in a rush.

My advice is to be super careful with anything made of wool or delicate knits. Those materials really hate being compressed for months on end and they often lose their fluffiness or shape once you finally let the air back in. Cotton stuff usually survives okay, but even then, I find myself having to give everything a quick wash or a good tumble in the dryer just to get the fibers to relax again. If you're storing something really nice, I'd skip the vacuum bags and just use a regular storage box.
