People who sleep in noisy rooms, what alternatives to earplugs do you use to help you fall asleep or cancel the noise?

"My neighbour has a dog that barks like it's trying to speak English. Literally it constantly barks but it isn't a loud aggressive bark, it sounds like someone yelling, "WAN WOW WOW WAN WAN WOAH WOAN WOW" So sometimes I speak back to him until I get sleepy i.e. "Hey, wow what? Just one? Which one? Yeah woah, that's crazy dawg" I like to think he can hear me and is genuinely trying to express his surprise to me over something he can't properly articulate. He's quiet right now and I can't sleep "

I just sorta accept the noise
Use your pillow as a plug
A put on a playlist with sounds of the waterfalls, rainforest etc.
I have a fan which is kinda used as a white noise machine
Sorry earplugs are the way forward. If it's a matter of comfort it's worth trying different brands Otherwise audiobooks are my go to.
Background noise, I usually have documentaries playing on YouTube, low volume so I don't focus on what is being said and the screen of my phone facing the mattress.
I have a few podcasts I don't really care about that I'll put on for some background noise. You also just get used to it. My buddy lives right by the train tracks and her house shakes when it goes by but she doesn't even notice anymore
