What kind of scams have your friends or family members fallen for?
It’s honestly crazy how these scammers operate these days. My cousin got hit pretty hard a couple of years back with one of those fake investment schemes. He thought he was putting money into some high-yield crypto platform, but the whole site was just a front. He lost a good chunk of his savings before he even realized what was going on. It really sucks seeing someone you care about get played like that, especially when they think they’re being smart with their finances.
My uncle also fell for one of those classic "tech support" scams. He got a pop-up on his laptop claiming he had a massive virus and called the number on the screen. These people convinced him to give them remote access to his computer and ended up stealing his banking info. He’s usually pretty sharp, but they used a lot of technical jargon that scared the hell out of him. It took him weeks to get his accounts secured again and he's been super paranoid about clicking anything online ever since.
It’s a good reminder to always be skeptical of anything that sounds too good to be true or creates a false sense of urgency. I try to tell my friends to never give out sensitive info over the phone, no matter who they claim to be. People are getting way too creative with these phishing attacks, so you really have to stay on your toes.
