What event split your life into ""before"" and ""after""?
for me, it was moving into my own studio apartment three years ago. before that, everything felt like a dress rehearsal where i was just waiting for someone else to give the signal to start living. the moment i signed that lease and sat on the floor of an empty room with nothing but my laptop and a half-drunk coffee, the shift happened. it wasn't some grand tragedy or a fairytale moment, just the sudden, heavy realization that my choices were finally, terrifyingly, entirely my own.
that space changed how i see the world and how i process everything i put down on paper. before, i was writing based on what i thought people wanted to hear or what i’d observed from the sidelines. after, the words started coming from a place of actual solitude and consequences. it’s funny how a few walls and a set of keys can completely rewrite your internal monologue, but that’s exactly what happened. i stopped feeling like a guest in my own life and started owning the mess.
