There is no single superior style. If there were, art would stagnate. People have different tastes. People have different ideas and feelings they want to express. We need a variety of ways to express our tastes and ideas.

Is there art that's objectively bad?
Art is subjective. You can't approach it scientifically, dude, unless you wanna talk social sciences
Art has always been subjective.
"I feel like the only standard for art is if it makes you think. "Why that colour? Why is there one big, blue rectangle?" Questions like that. Or even more thought provoking questions, too. "
Trend is the standard. From a society of beholders certain beholdings spread and take root.
Art has no standards. That is the point. It is evaluated on its function and its ability to communicate emotions and/or ideas.
"The only standard in art has been "the eye of the beholder". "
To paint like a child means to have the imagination of one. Not ability to paint.
The only standard for art is when you're dead your art will inevitably sell better.
