Sounds like you dodged a bullet, to be honest. I forgave my ex for some stuff she did before our wedding, and regretted it right up until we eventually got divorced.

I don't have a comparable story but your former fiance ultimately freed you up to live more fully and with the greater possibility of finding a new relationship that will not only fit better for both parties but ultimately make sense of what you gained by not having married the wrong person.
