it is pretty cool how the endoplasmic reticulum acts as the main factory while the golgi apparatus acts like the sorting center. i remember spending a fair bit of time trying to visualize how these membranes connect to each other in a 3d space, it makes way more sense once you look at it that way. the lysosomes are just the cleanup crew that handles the waste management part of the process.
